Dole Live Right bars are the perfect, healthy snack

photo: http://www.hungrydarling.com

Right, I am a snacker by nature so I thought I'd tell you about my latest snacking obsession. No not Popchips (though they still come a close second), I have discovered the joys of Dole Live Right bars which are made solely from nuts, seeds and fruits. So they have loads of protein, fibre and magnesium and release energy slowly so really help when I find myself flagging (which is as I type this if honest).

This stops me wanting to eat chocolate or biscuits and they are really, really tasty. They come in a wide range of flavours and three snacking options so there's no need to get bored.

The Dole Live Right Blueberry Almond Mini Crunch has fruit and nut clusters which contain almonds, seeds and blueberries (£2.99 for a pack of five bars).

The Dole Live Right Trio Bars have three types of nuts, seed and fruit and come in three flavours - cranberry, strawberry and blueberry (£2.19 for a pack of three bars).

The Dole Live Right Cranberry Almond Crunch has cashews, almonds and cranberries and a little natural syrup (£1.59 each).

Dole Live Right has been endorsed by HEART UK as being heart healthy and helping to lower cholesterol for more informaiton visit Dole.

Popchips - healthy snack for the time of year

Back in the office which is really rather pleasant. Sometimes being back in a routine is good and this one feels good. Good and progressive just how I like it. But how to stick to my regime set out by my Fitbit as described recently?

Popchips are little beauties which will help I'm sure. These potato chips are not fried or baked but have a little heat and pressure applied to 'pop' them perfectly. There are also no fake colourings, no artificial flavours, no grease and they taste really delicious. We had a load sent into the office which will keep us all off the sweet stuff for a while - so thank you Popchips!

Popchips in Salt and Vinegar flavour

Calories per bag 94, fat 3.1g, saturates 0.4g, salt 0.51g, sugars 1.3g so really not at all bad...

Win an iphone 5 with Salty Dog Nuts...

Salty Dog Nuts with the original Salty Dog, Ruby

Salty Dog nuts and crisps. Being a savoury snack fan I’m happy and willing to try any new nut or crisp that hits the shelves and can quite seriously put myself forward as a professional snack taster should the job ever arise. A friend of mine delivered a whole box of crisps as a gift when my eldest went off to uni and I must admit I was more than a little envious. I have devoted too much of my life (and too many hip inches) to  tasty savoury snacks. A lot of potatoes have been sliced since I was given my first bag which came completely plain and had a little blue twist of paper containing salt. And peanuts I can consume in vast quantities - which is why these small, portion-sized bags are such a great idea.

So what makes a Salty Dog  nut stand out from the crowd (apart from the name of course)?Well they're tasty and not too greasy but they also have a nice story. Delivery driver Dave Wills felt he could make better crisps than those he was delivering and in 2002 set up the Salty Dog crisp company named as a tribute to his terrier pup, Ruby, who always kept him company on his travels in the cab.
Salty Dog Ruby...

Partner Judy was determined to create a more wholesome and natural snack that still had the appeal of what was already out there without the bad stuff like too much fat .

The crisps  also have 20% less in fat than standard crisps. Salty Dog nuts - don't we all just love that name - are the new addition to the range and so to celebrate the Salty Dog brand have launched a competition.

Today sees the launch of a fantastic new competition via their Facebookpage where you can win an iphone 5 so enter and you could be the lucky one! All you have to do is 'like' their Facebook page and tell them the gift you would go 'nuts' for this Christmas and you will be entered into the competition.

Follow them on Twitter @saltydogrrr

The Salty Dog brand is now new to Tesco so order them now online.

Oddities - odd shapes, great snacks!

http://nurturestore.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/play-with-your-food-oddities.jpg

I am a savoury snacker and will opt for a packet of crisps over a cake or biscuit any day. So I was really interested to try out new Oddities from Jacob's which are light, crunchy and frankly, delicious!
They are also not too bad in terms of a snack having neither artificial flavours or colouring. They come in small snack bags and bags for sharing so I will be shoving these into the next delivery I make to both my girls at uni to share with their house-mates.

You can choose from Smoky Bacon or Cheese which are top flavours in any crisp and I really like the shapes - they have gone to town. Add them to your shopping bag now!

So where can you enjoy your Oddities? Here is me over-excited having just seen Gary Barlow outside of Radio One - the bag I'd bought for the office just had to be dipped into!

Sea Food - Itsu Crispy Seaweed thins

japeh.jpg

I really wanted to snack out in the office but, painfully aware that I am on a countdown to a week on the beach, I am trying (and it is hard) to be good. Then someone thrust a packet of itsu crispy seaweed thins into my hands (apparently 22 bags had been delivered and put away unbeknown to me). These are made from real seaweed (not like the cabbage that is served up as seaweed in a chinese restaurant) and melt on contact with your tongue.

I really liked them - they are salty and taste of the sea. If you like sushi you'll love them - there's also a slight under-taste of soy sauce. These could become an addiction at only £1.28 a pack and with 38 calories to the whole thing!

Californian Pistachios are Wonderful!

Ohhhhhh big bags of these were sent into the office and then I saw them on special offer in Sainsbury's at the weekend and just couldn't say know - around £2.50 at the moment for a decent enough bag. They are wonderful by name and actually pretty wonderful. Pistachio's are those snacks that you can't just have one or two of - and these are even worse! They are larger than average as they have been nurtured under the warm Californian sun then roasted without oil. They some seasoned which is why I love them so much - sweet chilli was definitely my favourite though I must say I could get an addiction to Salt and pepper too.
Available in a variety of sizes from 150g to a whopping 750g Wonderful® Pistachios are available in salted, salt and pepper, sweet chilli and no salt.

Nim's Fruit Crisps, a healthy snack

I am a bit of a crisp fiend - and I don't seem to be able to get through the day without at least one packet of something. I have tried to be a bit healthy by eating things like Sunbites which are made with wholegrain - but ultimately they are all pretty bad for my health and not contributing anything in the way of nutrients to my diet. So I was pleased to come across Nim's Fruit Crisps which are dried and waffer thin slices of fruit, bagged up and ready to snack at any time of day. Now, I do hear you ask, why don't you simply eat an apple or a pear instead of a bag of dried fruit slices? The answer is all in my addiction to a 'packet' of something - so I am indulging my craving while actually eating something that is good for me - so it's pretty much a 'win-win'.

Nim's Fruit Crisps come in a variety of delicious flavours - apple and strawberry, pineapple and mango, apple and kimi, and orange and melon. They are all 100% natural - no added preservatives, colourings or flavourings. Check out their website for orders...
