Not Just A Label - why we should all support new and young designers

You don't have to be young to wear clothes and accessories by young designers. In fact I think we have an obligation to support those who are working hard to get their beautifully made and limited edition pieces out to a wider audience. That is why I love sites like Not Just a Label who make it their business to offer an online shop featuring designer pieces and limited edition items from more than 5000 emerging new talents worldwide.

They often invite key industrial fashion figures and celebs to 'curate' the site so the result is a collection that inspires and you know it's good. The designs are offered direct from the designer's studios and shopping is between you and the designer so the mark up is less than if bought from designer boutiques.

I loved the site because I was inspired, I felt there is enough to tempt a wide range of ages without feeling a bit too 'try hard' and the prices were extremely competitive.
Here are my choices of the moment...
This EARTH BLACK NECKLACE is by Huddersfield designer Maria Lau, £135. It's made from hosiery and lava rock pyrite amongst other things and is a stunning piece you'll wear for years.
Next on my list is this FRONT TAILED DRESS by Shin from New York, £155. I am loving all the draping that is going on with fashion both this season and next. This is made from double knitted cotton so will drape well and cover a multitude of sins.
I do love a beautiful scarf and the collection from SQUARELUST in Moscow is particularly gorgeous. The Tangle Scarf is £122.50 and is 100% silk satin and features some cheeky hidden nudes within the design. This is a potential heirloom.
Now I don't suggest that anyone goes out and buys this unless they are a serious fashion collector or Lady GaGa wannabe but it made me laugh so much I just had to include it. THE_RODNIK_BAND are a bit bonkers and from London. The dress costs £1,600 - so it's entirely up to you...
